LOXTON APEX PARK

Public BBQ

Loxton Apex Park sits along the Murray River's edge, though timing your visit matters considerably. During high water events, the park recovers from floods - water levels had exceeded the historic 1931 mark at the Tree of Knowledge, creating an oddly majestic but somewhat soggy experience. When conditions are favourable, this riverfront spot offers free barbecue facilities and generous shade for family gatherings. The Murray provides swimming opportunities and various water activities, though you'll want to bring your own drinking water - the nearest tap requires a bit of hunting near the Tree of Knowledge. The park's refurbishment efforts are evident, with improvements planned for flood-damaged areas. Despite occasional soggy conditions during high water events, there's something uniquely Australian about watching the mighty Murray in full flow.
